The Connection Style Assessment provides insight about how you connect to others, yourself and God.  The assessment evaluates your responses to questions about 10 Connections Styles.   The results provide insight into how you connect.  The results describe the Strengths, the Struggles and the needs for each Connections Style listed in your results. Your results will vary over time depending upon what you experience in life.  Most individuals will have multiple Connection Styles, but one may be dominant.

The Relate Journal

Once you’ve completed the assessment, the next step is learning how to complete the Relate Journal.
The Relate Journal provides a simple 4 step process for you to stop the negative thought process quickly and easily.  The role of the journal is to help you move forward by enabling you to identify with the Truth in God’s Word.

Review – What Happened

The first step in the Relate Journal process is identifying “What Happened?”  In order to get to the truth, you first have to understand what happened.  Identifying the event allows you to jumpstart your rational mind and begins the process of capturing your initial thoughts and emotional response.  Writing out “What Happened” in 2-3 sentences also stops you from rambling and spiraling into other events that created the same emotional response.

Reveal – What Did I Think and Feel?

You have wrote what happened, now it is time to start identifying thoughts and feelings.  In this step, you will describe what the event or trigger caused you to think and feel. Keep it brief. Use two or three feeling words, or one to two sentences about your thoughts.

Regroup – What kind of Connection Do I need?

In this step, you will identify the type of connection you need in this circumstance, using the Connection Styles. We all have unique ways of connecting to others, our personal circumstances and to God. These are our connection styles. They indicate not only how we might respond to life’s circumstances, but also the kind of connections that will empower us to move forward, find peace and make Christ centered choices.

Rewrite – The Truth--What does the Word Say?

In this final step, you will write out a scripture corresponding to the connection style from step 3 Tip: Do not just write the scripture down but read it aloud.
